UN Commission on the Status of Women Parallel Events
United Nations, New York CityAt the United nations Conference on the Status of Women in NYC Feb. 2011, the Millionth Circle Conveners facilitated 2 workshops on Circles and we all participated in a workshop led by Jean Shinoda Bolen advocating for the 5th World Conference on Women in 2015.
Part of the mission of the Millionth Circle states:We believe that circles support each member to find her or his own voice and to live more courageously, and we intend to bring the circle process into United Nations accredited non-governmental organizations and the 5th UN World Conference on Women.
During the past 10 years we have worked to make this a reality by sharing with women around the world our simple circle principles. We believe that the time is NOW to plan the 5th World Conference on Women. The last such conference took place in Beijing in 1995. Now is the time to bring women together and to model a circle way of working together, rather than continue in a hierarchical management model. The circle way of being allows for all the voices to be heard equally.
